Bishop Murphy spoke to the Long Island pilgrims about two people who lived the WYD theme of “Blessed are the merciful” to the point of giving their lives: Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko and St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.
Bishops Robert Brennan, Nelson Perez and Andrzej Zglejszewski and eight diocesan priests concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Murphy for the 350 young people and chaperones.
