The Visitation

On this day we remember the visit Mary made to her cousin, Elizabeth. It is during this visit that Mary praised God by proclaiming her Magnificat. The Magnificat is a prayer that reminds us of our willingness to thank and serve God each day.

Let us pray: I acclaim the greatness of the Lord, I delight in God my savior, who regarded my humble state. For God, wonderful in power has used that strength for me. Holy is the name of the Lord, whose mercy embraces the faithful one generation to the next. The mighty arm of God scatters the proud, pulls tyrants from their thrones, and raises up the humble. God remembers the promise He made to our ancestors, to Abraham’s heirs forever. Amen.

How do I follow Jesus?

 20210526 - XLT - 044

20210526 - XLT - 042

The final XLT Kellenberg Worship Program was held on Wednesday, May 26 with over 175 students attending the Adoration and Witness talk by Mr. Jeff Harris.

We gathered together in prayer to follow Jesus in order to listen to him, to enter into communion with him in the Eucharist, to accompany him and in order that he accompany us.

Pope Francis asks us: Let us ask ourselves: how do I follow Jesus? Jesus speaks in silence in the Mystery of the Eucharist. He reminds us every time that following Him means going out of ourselves and not making our life a possession of our own, but rather a gift to him and to others.

Mary as the Help of Christians

Today we remember Mary as the Help of Christians.

This is the anniversary day of the foundation of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (Marianist Sisters) in 1816. It is also the anniversary day in 1819 when the Vatican gave spiritual privileges to both the Society of Mary and the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (Marianist Sisters).

Let us pray: Mary, daughter of Wisdom we, your family, desire to be your living presence in the world today. Form us to be the faithful sons and daughters of your son, our brother, Jesus. Grant that we may always wholeheartedly respond to the graces sent to us by God. May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

THE THREE O’CLOCK PRAYER

THE THREE O’CLOCK PRAYER

Lord Jesus,
we gather in spirit at the foot of the Cross
with your Mother and the disciple whom you loved.
We ask your pardon for our sins,
which are the cause of your death.

We thank you for remembering us
in that hour of salvation
and for giving us Mary as our Mother.

Holy Virgin,
take us under your protection
and open us to the action of
the Holy Spirit.

Saint John,
obtain for us the grace of taking Mary
into our lives as you did,
and of assisting her in her mission.

May the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit
be glorified in all places
through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

Amen.

Mary as the Mother of All Graces

Today, we remember Mary as the Mother of All Graces.

We recall on this day decrees from the Vatican: The Decree of Commendation (April 12, 1839) recognizing the Society of Mary and the Daughters of Mary Immaculate and the Decree of approval of the Society of Mary (May 12, 1865) as an order of Brothers and priests offering their services to the Church.

Let us pray: God of everlasting love, Your son gave us His Mary to be our mother. Taught by him and united with thousands of students throughout the world in Marianist schools, we pray: Mary, do for us what you did for our brother, Jesus. Guide us so we grow strong in wisdom and grace. Give us sight to see the talents God has given us, the will to develop them, and the generosity to share our talents with others. Instill in us the desire to constantly learn, the goodness to serve generously, and the courage to follow where Jesus calls. We pray for these blessings for ourselves, for all the students at this school, and for all members of the faculty and staff. May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen

May 3 - Month of Mary

In the spring of 1917, three Catholic shepherd children living near Fatima reported apparitions of an Angel, and starting in May 1917, apparitions of the Virgin Mary, whom the children described as the Lady of the Rosary. The children reported a prophecy that prayer would lead to an end to the Great War, and that on 13 October of that year the Lady would reveal her identity and perform a miracle "so that all may believe." Newspapers reported the prophecies, and many pilgrims began visiting the area. The children's accounts were deeply controversial, drawing intense criticism from both local secular and religious authorities.

May 2 - Month of Mary

In 1858 at the French foothills of the Pyrenees a young girl named Bernadette Soubirous, her sister Toinette, and their friend Jeanne Abadie were out gathering firewood for their families. Toinette and Abadie crossed a stream to gather wood on the other side, but Bernadette hesitated, fearing that wading in the cold water would bring on an asthma attack.

When her sister and friend moved out of her sight, she decided to take a chance anyway, and started to remove her shoes. It was at that moment that she was startled by a great noise like thunder. Turning towards a grotto behind her, she saw a single rosebush swaying as if being blown by a strong wind. Almost immediately she also saw a golden cloud form over the rosebush and a young and beautiful lady appear in the cloud. The lady smiled at Bernadette and motioned for her to come closer. All the fear that Bernadette had felt a few moments earlier faded away at the sight of this lady. She felt safe as if with her mother.
